CORPORATIONS

How can my company join The Community Corps?

Q: What is The Community Corps?

A: Welcome to The Community Corps. We understand that many nonprofits either

do not have in-house IT staff, or are stretching existing staff to perform duties outside

of their assigned responsibilities. The Community Corps guides users through IT

volunteer projects. Most projects are short, simple and impactful, requiring anywhere

from 2 to 25 hours of volunteer time. Based on a volunteer's skills profile and

preferences, he/she will be suggested as a volunteer for a nonprofit's project. When

the project ends, volunteer hours will be tracked via a corporate social responsibility

reporting engine.

community and welcome the opportunity to apply their skills in a new industry.

Q: I am a Volunteer.Why do I need to complete a skills profile?

A: Our skills questions map directly to each of the project templates in

The Community Corps. By providing us with current information regarding your skills

volunteer opportunities.

Q: How long does the typical project last?

Q: How do I choose a new Project Template or Scope of Work?

A: Visitors to The Community Corps can view project options by selecting

‘Nonprofits’ from the main menu bar across the top of the screen. From there you can

view the different project options. To view more than just a project summary and to

submit a project request you must first be logged into The Community Corps.

Q: What is the process for suggesting volunteers?

A: Each project template or scope of work is associated with 6 to 10

skill related questions. When volunteers register in The Community Corps,

they are prompted to identify their skills background by responding to questions

in the areas they are interested in volunteering. Volunteers can also respond

to questions at the time they express interest in volunteering on a particular

project.

The Community Corps will then check to ensure at least a pre-determined minimum

number of the skill questions associated with a project have been answered as

‘Yes’ by the interested volunteer. Volunteers that do not meet the minimum skills

will not be suggested to a nonprofit as potential resources for assistance.

Q: Can I volunteer even if I am unable to be onsite at a nonprofit?

A: Yes! Many of our projects can be successfully completed while working virtually.

We encourage nonprofits and remote volunteers to leverage remote working tools

such as email and instant messenger.

have a valid Employer Identification Number (EIN). While we rarely refuse approval

of organizations meeting the stated criteria, we do reserve the right to refuse

approval or suspend an organization’s approved status at any time for any reason.
